January 2019 Mixtape

January has always been my favorite month of the year. My birth month, a fresh page, the start of a new semester, filled with crisp winter air and fresh snowfall (yeah, winter is one of my favorite months of the year, call me crazy), what more could a girl ask for? Although this year my month consisted of all of these things, this January was unlike any others. It marked the beginning of many “lasts” for me. I started my last semester as an undergraduate here at UW, which is, I think, more terrifying than starting my very first semester here. Madison seemed so foreign at the time, and now there isn’t even an inch of myself left untouched by this city. January also marked the beginning of the last few months I will be living alongside some of my dearest friends. Although I feel like a proud mom watching my kids go off to grad school, start their first grown-up jobs, etc., I can’t help but feel like my whole life is being uprooted. Amongst all of the mixed emotions and bittersweet “lasts”, these are the songs I found myself playing on repeat.
